Happy Friday

Welcome back Mrs. Johnston.

Our Rockstars on Wednesday and Thursday were Zach and Scarlett. They were delighted to share their books with the class.

Today students enjoyed learning tables of their choice today. Then we reviewed the traits, characteristics and special features of the hare. Students finished colouring and adding detail to their data pages. We went on a winter wonder walk searching for signs of animals. Looking for footprints, possible food sources and signs of animals. We saw rabbit and possibly hare tracks, poop (little round balls), chewed bark, and possible sleeping areas.

Our class tree in winter.

We are crazy fun kids.

Signs of a running rabbit or hare.

Hmmm.....what could the hare/rabbit have eaten? Do we see signs of chewing?

We completed the letter Vv independently today. Students were asked to write the letter Vv and write their own letter Vv words accompanied with a coloured picture. AMAZING job.

We completed a problem solving task about heavier and lighter. Students were faced with a problem of having to move our classroom items to another kindergarten classroom. What objects could they carry?? Why or why not?? Students were challenged to identify the items that were light enough to carry and ones that were too heavy. They were asked to draw, write and tell about their ideas to their teacher. We had so much fun. Students brought home their assignment along with an assessment rubric. Take a look and have your child share with you.

Upcoming:

  • no school next Friday
  • Wednesday is dress like your favourite decade...kindergarten might not have a connection to this so we encourage them to choose their favourite colour to dress in
  • send those shoe boxes in for an upcoming project (and any extras you don't need)
