How Can A Problem Become and Opportunity?

Our Rockstar today was Griffin.

Griffin loves hockey and shared his hockey jersey, #52 and some hockey cards. He collects hockey cards and has a lot from Tim Hortons. Griffin loves the Philadelphia Flyers and Giroux is his favourite player. Wow, super cool Rockstar Griffin.

Students enjoyed learning tables-let the patterning continue.

Students participated in a smartboard patterning activity that challenged us to identify colour patterns and shape patterns.

We have been talking about the difference between needs and wants. Students have been using actions, sorting activities and drawings to learn about our basic needs. Today we talked about how not having enough food can be a problem. How can we take this problem of not having enough food and turn it into an opportunity to help others.

What would it feel like to not have enough food? How is this a problem?

  • you might get hungry (Brett)
  • you could die without die (Griffin)
  • you might feel tired (Zach)

How could we help someone who does not have enough food to eat?

  • we could ask our mommy and daddy to go to superstore and buy them food (Sydney)
  • someone can buy food for other people with their money (Zach)
  • give them food (Scarlett)
  • give them money so they could buy food (Kayley)

Students drew a picture to tell about their thoughts and ideas to help people who do not have enough food.
Students were asked to draw their ideas about one way to help someone who does not have enough food.

Scholastic Orders:
Our fall scholastic book order forms are coming home (Many thanks to Brett's mom for putting the packages together). Ordering books supports your child and their early reading and literacy. It also allows us to earn money for classroom books. You can order online by setting up a scholastic account at scholastic.ca. Or, you can send cash with your child. This scholastic order is due October 29.

Center time continues to be a hit. Such creativity.

Reminders:
  • Friday is a PM Kindergarten Day (no school for AM)
  • Halloween is 11:45am dismissal-wear a costume or pajamas

**If you would like to donate a pumpkin to our classroom for exploration and investigation, Kindergarten is currently excited to provide this opportunity. We would welcome big, small, weird shaped and whatever other pumpkin you may wish to offer. Thank you!
