Today students enjoyed their learning tables. Building with 3D shapes and representing the #8 kept everyone busy. Super readers joined Mrs. Johnston to read, Monkeys.

Today students revisited the first, next and last writing format. We imagined what we could build and create for our class pet Goldy. Students drew pictures and listed materials they would use. These included: snap cubes, playdoh, bubble cubes and big blocks. The ideas were incredible. Students recorded their inventions with pictures and words.

Today Celtie shared her farm with her classmates. Her imagination ran wild with ideas as she used popsicle sticks, glue, stickers, felt markers and paper to create this incredible farm. It took her forever to build she tells us. Students were very impressed with her creativity and had many questions about how she made it all stick, and how she found all of these cool supplies. Way to go, Builder Celtie.

Dashyl shared his creative Lego build-no instructions required, only imagination built his airplane. Dashyl imagined the pieces he would need to create this magnificent airplane. Students were very impressed he build this all by himself without a 'destruction guide'. Dashyl was very proud to share his drawing and his imagination. Way to go, Builder Dashyl.

Hats On! for Mental Health Day
On May 1, 2019, Albertans are invited to wear a hat to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health. Participating CBE schools will relax their hat rules and encourage students and teachers to build understanding by wearing hats to school. Individual classrooms will also have a discussion around mental health and the importance of removing the stigma associated with mental illnesses, at an age appropriate level.
Student's at New Brighton School are invited to participate in Hats On! for Mental Health on Wednesday!
