Spring Tree Visit

Happy Birthday to our AM friend, Zoey. She turned 6 years old today.

Today we took a visit to our classroom tree. We noticed signs of spring and talked about what we saw:
  • new buds
  • some trees have lots of leaves
  • the grass is green
  • its feels warm

We talked about how animals get ready for spring and how we do too. We talked about how animals might lose some fur and get a summer coat and how we get out our spring coats and put away our winter ones.

Upon returning to the class, students glued a photo of our spring classroom tree into our visual journal. Students drew and coloured their own spring tree into the seasons cycle page of their visual journal.

Today was an exciting day to try something new. We took a chance to paint with nature. Students used grass, twigs, dried plants, pine cones, rocks and parts of trees to paint their spring tree. They thought it was quite a neat experience. What did you think of painting with nature?

  • it was fun because it was new (Solveig)
  • it was kinda hard (Cash)
  • it got easier (Owen)
  • I liked it so much (Zoey)
