PM spent time with their Grade 2 buddies sharing their Jeff Stockton work. Grade 2 students shared their story boards with our class. So exciting to share in their learning.
Students worked on collaboration and effective communication as they joined forces to build a home for a classroom pet. The materials were plentiful. Students used blocks, lego, wood, tree pieces, snap cubes and various assortments to create a home for their pet. The creations were most excellent. Way to go kinders.
Today we ventured out to our classroom tree. Thankfully the weather warmed and we were able to get outside for a few minutes. Enough time to visit our tree and talk about the changes in the tree since our fall visit.
- there are no leaves (Mason)
- the ground is snowy (Sophie)
- there's no bugs (Skylar)
We then discussed how animals have adjusted to this cold weather:
- they grow more fur (Thomas)
- they go somewhere warm (Andy)
- their fur changes colour (Evan)
We talked about our cold weather and how we can stay warm:
- wear a toque (Lauren)
- put on a warm coat (Blaire)
- wear boots (Minelle)
- put on a scarf (Divya)
- use a neckwarmer (Dom)
Students explored a different medium to show their winter tree. Using brown paint we created our tree trunk and branches. A creative mixture of glue, paint and shaving cream created poofy snow. We added snow to our tree. What a wonderful snowy scene.
