Welcome back to another wonderful week of learning.
Learning tubs are a wonderful way to begin our learning day. Students will continue to work on numeracy and literacy on iPads this week. Representing numbers 2-10, both concretely and pictorially will be lots of fun working with pipe cleaners, beads and number cards. Students work to represent a number using two different coloured beads on a pipe cleaner. Then, they will draw and colour their arrangement. Practicing tracing numerals and then writing them independently is a big hit with dry erase markers. Finally students are creating their very own pet book in which they are tracing pet words and colouring the pictures. Afterwards, they are reading their book to a friend and identifying letters in pet names. Way to go, Kinders.
AM students were a part of the Heart and Stroke, Jump Rope for Heart, assembly this morning. Students were reminded of the value of exercise and keeping healthy. They were also introduced to the signs of a stroke. Here is a link for more information and for our PM classes to explore.
We are working on representing numbers and worked with a hands on smart board activity. Students practiced moving coloured fish into a fish bowl and identified how many of each there were. Students then completed their own fish bowl activity which will come home today. Students were asked to represent five fish in four different ways: 2 blue/3red, 3 blue/2red, 1blue/4red, 4blue/1red. They were then challenged to represent 5 fish using three colours-they did amazing. Check out the handout today.
