Special Visitors

Our class has the pleasure of hosting two turtles in our classroom. What a wonderful opportunity to learn about turtles and their habitat. Just like us, animals need shelter too.

Our New Friends
This week offers exciting learning opportunities. We are focusing on the letter Kk. Practice finding items that begin with a Kk around your home and community. Today Ryder, Taylor and Owen (AM) and Mason, Evan and Andy (PM) share their Kk work.

PM Letter Work

AM Letter Work

Morning tubs will offer students the opportunity to work on fine motor skills through cutting and gluing items that belong in specific rooms in a house. We are continuing our work on needs and wants. This week we will focus on homes (shelter). We are going to talk about the function of some common objects found in our homes. Students are cutting out items from a home and gluing them into the corresponding room in the house. This will lead us into our discussion of the different varieties of homes. Look for this to come home this week.

We are beginning to explore animals and their need for shelter as well. Students have a hands on learning table to create a shelter for an animal they select.

Students had a chance to put their teamwork and building to the test. Students worked on building a community with big lego. Our focus was respect, sharing, and cooperation.

A special colouring center is upon us this week. Students are challenged with their first colour by number. What a terrific chance to show their knowledge of numbers; both recognizing the numeral and finding it in their picture.
